The Sean McArdle band is just a three piece for now and we've been rehearsing a whole new set of songs that Sean has recently written. This is an unnamed number that Sean isn't quiet finished yet, so we decided to do an instrumental to at least practice the music.

Here is a a short interview Jon of DCIC did with David Furst and the great local show Metro Connection on WAMU. I wish I could have been there, but Jon did a great job and David Furst is an excellent host who really knows his local scene, plus I love the way to says my name!

The music contained on this release is pretty average post-rock. Average post-rock is ‘good’ in comparison with many other forms of music, and so this is still an enjoyable listen. However, it’s definitely not up to the standard of the debut album (which I rate very highly), and sounds like a band finding their form. It’s not at all helped by rather flat production, which takes away a lot of the impact which is a staple of this kind of music. Overall, it’s pleasant, but nothing to get excited about. A high 3.0.

Noisesome is a brand new Belgian label that axes itself on new Belgian bands. The 1st release is this single from the audio visual collective Motek, that is clearly based on lush guitars in the vein of Cocteau Twins, Lush and related acts. Not bad at all, even great but it will not exactly break pots as we say in Dutch. It’s just not distinctive enough I fear. But if you are a fan of lush guitars, then pick this single up, you will most probably enjoy it.
